Nissan GT-R takes centre stage

The wraps were finally taken off one of the most hotly anticipated cars of 2007 with the official public unveiling of Nissan's new halo car, the GT-R, at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Here are the basics:

- The car will go on sale in Japan from December 6.
- 3.8-litre Twin Turbo VR38 V6 engine developing 353kW and 588Nm.
- Low drag coefficient of 0.27
- Double clear coat paint with anti-chipping process
- Rear-mounted dual-clutch GR6 gearbox
